St Paul: Windows

St Paul, Liège
St Paul, Liège

The great window in St Paul’s (Liège, Belgium) southern transept (see left) is depicting various scenes from the life of Jesus. But modern stained glass windows can be found here, too (see further photos).

For example the Thanksgiving dance of the angels, rather similar to another window nearby. What’s the story here? Why did the church people order two windows that basically show the same situation?

Considering civil Renaissance windows in town halls, or even taverns: when and why did the civil society lose interest in telling stories in windows?
